Lacuna/Labs tri-tone bar lockup.

A lacuna is a gap, an absence, a missing piece. The iconography is the inverse — three present units, no gaps, fully claimed space. The tension between the name and the mark is intentional: the mark fills what the name leaves open.

Lacuna/Labs is the parent surface of the Lacuna family. The bar above is its canonical mark, per DID-LACUNA-LABS-v1.0. The pages on this site are an index of what the parent contains: apps the subdomains ship, docs the parent publishes, and the roster that operates the whole.

The bar, read literally

Three abutting 72×72 squares followed by a monospace wordmark. Equal shape forces the eye to read tonal difference as the only information channel. Three is the minimum count for a series to read as a scale (Stevens, 1957). The squares abut without a gap; Gestalt closure (Wertheimer, 1923) reads them as one continuous bar. Right becomes more: more ink in light mode, more illumination in dark mode. The mid-tone is identical across modes — a perceptual anchor that holds steady when the surrounding mode flips.

The wordmark is set in Geist Mono at weight 500, 60pt canonical. Monospace allocates equal cell-width per glyph. The icon inhabits the same visual environment as code editors, terminals, and system logs — the materials the wordmark touches.

Subdomains

Lacuna/Labs is a parent. The named subdomains extend the parent with one hue claim each, used only for interactive feedback; the structural greys remain canonical. See DID-LACUNA-v1.2 for the meta-rule.
